FAU Ranks Among Top 100 Colleges and Universities In Graduating Hispanic Students

BOCA RATON, FL (July 11, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University ranked as one of the top 100 four-year colleges in conferring degrees to Hispanic graduates in both bachelor's and master's degrees according to a survey in Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, a magazine published bi-weekly that informs college students, organizations and community-based corporations of matters Hispanic students encounter on college campuses.

"Florida Atlantic University works relentlessly to serve its community by enrolling quality students of all backgrounds," said FAU President Frank Brogan. "Being recognized for our diversity in academic achievement is a real honor."

For the 2003-04 academic year, 52,211 degrees were conferred to Hispanics in the top 100 universities that serve the Hispanic population. At FAU, 524 bachelor's degrees and 96 master degrees were awarded to Hispanic students during the academic year.

The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education ranked FAU:

  • 37th in the nation in conferring bachelor's degrees to Hispanics;
  • 60th in the nation for the number of masters degrees awarded to Hispanics.
