Philip Cromer, Ph.D. (Assistant Director of the MacArthur Campus Counseling Center, Jupiter, Florida)

Dr. Cromer is the Assistant Director of the Counseling Center on the MacArthur Campus in Jupiter.  He received his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from West Virginia University, Master’s of Arts degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University, and his Bachelors in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University.  Dr. Cromer’s areas of professional interests include: depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder assessment, learning disorder assessment, and diversity and multiculturalism issues.  He uses are variety of therapeutic techniques when providing individual and group counseling.  Dr. Cromer also provides outreach and consultation for the students, faculty, and staff of Florida Atlantic University.  You may contact Dr. Cromer at: 561-799-8621 or pcromer@fau.edu

Dawn DiCicco, LCSW

Dawn is a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as, a New York Licensed Master Social Worker. She received her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology, from Loyola College and her Master of Social Work, specializing in Alcohol and Substance Abuse from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and a member of the Florida chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Dawn conducts client assessments, crisis appointments, groups, couples, family and individual sessions. She utilizes multiple theoretical perspectives and techniques in her work with addictions, mood and anxiety disorders, and personality disorders. She is a field supervisor for MSW students and a member of the staffing team, which facilitates the scheduling process for clients.

Arlene C. Faranda, MS, CS, ARNP

Arlene has dual certification /licensure as a psychiatric nurse practitioner/ clinical specialist. She completed her mater’s degree at Boston University and post graduate training at Ackerman Institute of Family Therapy in New York City. Arlene is in private practice with Dr. Br, Benarroche & Associates in Boca Raton as well. She is primarily responsible for psychiatric evaluation and medication management at the center.

Alia Fons-Scheyd, Ph.D. Psychologist, FAU Broward Counseling Center

Dr. Fons-Scheyd earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Houston in 2007 and is a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida.  She also holds an M.Ed. in counseling (2002) and a B.A. in psychology (1999), both from the University of Texas at Austin.  Dr. Fons-Scheyd works primarily from a cognitive behavioral approach but also relies heavily upon interpersonal process therapy techniques and draws from a wide range of theories and techniques in conceptualizing and treating clients. Dr. Fons-Scheyd has trained and worked at a number of college counseling centers. Her areas of professional and research interest include attachment theory and interpersonal relationships, perfectionism, identity and life role concerns, positive psychology, career counseling, group counseling, short-term individual therapeutic approaches, and creating effective outreach and psychoeducational programming.  In addition to providing individual therapy services, she enjoys supervising and training practicum students, leading or co-leading process therapy groups, working with couples in therapy, and collaborating with faculty and staff on campus to implement preventative programs and provide psychoeducational presentations. Rhonda F. Seiman, Ph.D.

Dr. Seiman received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, The Brooklyn Center. She is a Florida licensed Psychologist. Dr. Seiman completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and is certified as a supervisor specializing in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. She uses multiple approaches and techniques in her work with students. She specializes in helping students with “problems in living” , anxiety, depression, sexual and violent assault as well as other types of trauma, grief, body image and eating disorder problems. In addition to providing individual counseling, Dr. Seiman enjoys facilitating therapy groups and supervising graduates students. She is Director of Training at the Center.

Angie Gifford, M Ed.

Angie has a Master of Education degree with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University; her undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in English also from Florida Atlantic University. She has the Florida Attorney General Victim Services Practitioner Designation and is a member of the Florida Crisis Response Team. In addition to relationship Issues, anxiety, and other social concerns, Angie’s areas of special interest are sexual assault, victimization, critical incident stress, trauma and abuse, which complements her position as University Victim Advocate.
