Important Financial Aid Dates: 2011-2012
NOTICE REGARDING DISBURSEMENT OF FINANCIAL AID:
CHECK DISBURSEMENT OF AID TAKES SEVERAL WEEKS. Students need to set aside funds for personal needs during the first three weeks of the semester. Unless you have authorized direct deposit of your aid with your existing bank or BankAtlantic, checks will be mailed to the local address on file with the Registrar's Office.
To Access and Change Address : Log on to MyFAU , click on the FAU Self-Service link then select the Personal Information to view and update your address, phone number, emergency contacts and more.
The Office of Student Financial Aid maintains this calendar to inform you of important financial aid dates & deadlines ( Dates are subject to change without notice).
SPRING 2012
For students beginning SPRING 2012, all REQUIRED documents must be received by the Financial Aid Office for consideration to have SPRING 2012 tuition payments postponed and any late fees waived (Tuition Deferment).
December 16, 2011 First day to apply for SPRING 2012 Short Term Advance for purchasing textbooks and other unanticipated expenses. Available exclusively online in MyFAU . Must be degree seeking and registered half-time or more at FAU for consideration. Click here for detailed instructions on how to apply.January 1, 2012 The FAFSA is now available online for the 2012-2013 academic year. Submit the FAFSA ( www.fafsa.gov) early to be considered for most forms of financial aid. The FAU priority deadline is March 1st . Make sure to complete the planned housing code (since leaving this section blank could result in underfunding).
January 4, 2012 Disbursement of Short Term Advance Begins (if all criteria is met)
January 7, 2012 SPRING 2012 Term begins.
January 13, 2012 Last day to drop/add courses without consequences for SPRING 2012 Term; courses are fee liable after this date.
Financial Deferment Deadline (In order to receive Deferment of Tuition Payment, students must submit financial aid award documents online by 5pm this date.) All documents must be in a "Satisfied" status. After this date a $100 late payment fee and/or $100 late registration fee will be assessed.
January 17, 2012 Last day to pay fees for SPRING 2012 Term (Late fees applied after 5pm).
Financial Aid Disbursements by Fund begin AFTER this date (subject to change) .
February 1, 2012 Students can begin to Request Financial Aid for SUMMER 2012 terms online via MyFAU (Click on the Money Matters! tab).
February 3, 2012 Last Day to Apply for Short Term Advance for SPRING 2012 Term online. If a short term advance is needed after this point, students will have to submit a hardcopy paper application that will be available on the Forms to Download page on 2/7/2012.
March 1, 2012 All REQUIRED documents must be received by the Financial Aid Office for priority consideration of all need-based sources of aid. Completed applications submitted after this date will be considered in the order received.

May 10, 2012 Disbursement of Short Term Advance Begins (if all criteria is met)May 14, 2012 SUMMER 2012 Term begins (Terms 1 & 2).
May 18, 2012 Last day to drop/add courses without consequences for SUMMER 2012 Term by 5 p.m. (Students enrolled in a combination of Terms 1, 2 & 3) ; courses are fee liable after this date.
Financial Deferment Deadline (In order to receive Deferment of Tuition Payment, students must have "Accepted" financial aid awards online by 5pm this date.) In addition, all documents must be in a "Satisfied" status in order to receive a deferment. After this date a $100 late payment fee and/or $100 late registration fee will be assessed.
May 21, 2012 Last day to pay fees for SUMMER 2012 Terms - Terms 1 & 2 (Late fees applied after 5pm).
Financial Aid Disbursements by Fund begin AFTER this date (Sessions 1 & 2) .
June 21, 2012 Disbursement of Short Term Advance Begins for students enrolled in SUMMER Term 3 ONLY (if all criteria is met; date subject to change)
June 25, 2012 SUMMER 2012 Term begins (Term 3).
June 29, 2012 Last day to drop/add courses without consequences for SUMMER 2012 Term by 5 p.m. (For Students enrolled ONLY in Term 3) ; courses are fee liable after this date.
July 2, 2012 Last day to pay fees for SUMMER 2012 Term 3 OLNY. (Late fees applied after 5pm).
Financial Aid Disbursements by Fund begin AFTER this date for students enrolled in SUMMER Term 3 ONLY (subject to change) .
July 20, 2012 Last Day to Apply for Short Term Advance for SUMMER 2012 Term online. If a short term advance is needed after this point, students will have to submit a hardcopy paper application that will be available on the Forms to Download page on 9/20/2012.
