The exhibition also includes a selection of post-punk era works by Pettibon from south Florida public and private art collections, demonstrating a development of the artist’s style and thematic interests. A selection of punk era film and video works and punk inspired performances will round out the exhibition, made possible through collaboration with faculty members James E. Cunningham and Alejandro Sánchez-Samper, Department of Music, and Shane Eason, School of Communication and Multimedia Studies. A lecture and book signing by Ryan Moore, Department of Sociology and author of Sells Like Teen Spirit: Music, Youth Culture and Social Crisis, will also be presented.
“Raymond Pettibon: The Punk Years, 1978-86 is the first in ICI’s Exhibitions in a Box series. Organized and circulated by Independent Curators International (ICI), New York, this exhibition has been assembled by David Platzker. The exhibition is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Horace W.
