Miguel Gutierrez returns to MANCC
The Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) welcomes Visiting Artist Miguel Gutierrez (NY) March 27, 2011 - April 19, 2011. Gutierrez returns to MANCC in the first of a two part residency to work on a new evening length piece,And lose the name of action. The piece is the performance result of three years’ worth of research into the over-lapping and divergent conceptions of mind/body in the fields of neurology, embodied philosophy, somatic practices, improvisation and the paranormal. While in residence Gutierrez will collaborate with performers Michelle Boule, Hilary Clark, Luke George, K.J. Holmes and Ishmael Houston-Jones as well as Sound Designer Neal Medlyn and Video Artist Boru O'Brien O'Connel.
During his residency Gutierrez will participate in a School of Dance Forum, teach a workshop titled Ineffable Intangible Sensational with guest Richard Shusterman, D.Phil. (Florida Atlantic University) and moderate a panel on the Mind/Body Problem in which panelists will address the conceptions of mind/body in the fields of neurology, embodied philosophy, somatic practices, improvisation and the paranormal.
