About FAU     Florida Atlantic University, the fifth public university in Florida, opened its doors in 1964 with an enrollment of 867 upper-division and graduate students.  In 1984, FAU admitted its charter freshman class of 257, becoming a four-year institution.  In fall 2011, FAU achieved its largest enrollment.  The 29,313 students currently enrolled come from 48 states and 138 countries; 58% are full-time and 3,346 are first-time-in-college students.

Mission Statement    
Florida Atlantic University is a public research university with multiple campuses along the southeast Florida coast serving a uniquely diverse community.  It promotes academic and personal development, discovery, and lifelong learning.  FAU fulfills its mission through excellence and innovation in teaching, outstanding research and creative activities, public engagement and distinctive scientific and cultural alliances, all within an environment that fosters inclusiveness.

Lifelong Learning      

Jupiter:  The Lifelong Learning Society (LLS) at Florida Atlantic University offers non credit, liberal art classes for students of all ages on the Jupiter campus during the fall, winter, spring and summer semesters.

Located on the John D. MacArthur Campus at Jupiter LLS has its own 23,000 sq. ft. facility, The Elinor Bernon Rosenthal Complex.  Consisting of The Tamar and Milton Maltz Center for Education and Pearl Perloff Classroom and Administrative Wings.

Now celebrating its 15th year with more than 7,500 annual students, LLS offers over 120 classes from October through July with over 20,000 enrollments.
