To the University Community and Friends of FAU:
Since opening its doors in 1964, Florida Atlantic University has emerged as a rapidly evolving research institution dedicated to providing students with top quality academic opportunities through the efforts of its world-class faculty and hard-working support staff.
Over the course of the past year, a national search was conducted to find a new leader for this dynamic University, and in March 2010 Dr. Mary Jane Saunders was selected to serve as the sixth President of FAU by unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees.Since starting her tenure in June 2010, Dr. Saunders has begun making her mark at FAU by intensifying the University's focus on student success and seeking new ways to elevate the institution's research profile.
It is with great pleasure that the Board of Trustees welcomes Dr. Saunders to FAU, and we look forward to hosting the inaugural activities under the theme of Making Waves: Celebrating and Cultivating Discovery, Diversity and Distinction. The installation ceremony will take place on Friday, October 29, at 10 a.m. in the Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium on the Boca Raton campus.
We cordially invite you to participate in the weeklong celebration honoring Dr. Saunders that will intertwine with the University's Homecoming festivities, providing an opportunity for us to join in an affirmation of FAU's commitment to the pursuit of academic achievement, scientific discovery and student success.Sincerely,
