Passwords to Expire Annually

As part of our ongoing effort to improve computer security, all users will be required to change their FAUNet ID password on an annual basis. We are initiating this practice to better protect your personal information, university data, and the range of services available over the FAU network.

You will be notified when your password is due to expire. You will receive your first warning two weeks before your password will be expired, then another warning one week before, and warnings on each of the last 3 days before it is set to expire.

Once your password has expired, you will be prompted to change it on your next login to MyFAU or your Windows desktop before continuing with the login. You can avoid this inconvenience by changing your password now.

It is recommended that your change your passwords more frequently for higher security. Each time you change your password, you will initiate a 365-day expiration cycle. We strongly encourage you to change your password before it expires, in order to avoid disruption to your access to university systems and services.

How do I change my password?

  • MyFAU & Mac users can change their password by logging in to MyFAU and selecting the "My Account" link on the top left of the page.
  • Users already logged into Microsoft Windows can use Ctrl + Alt + Del and select the "Change Password" button.
