IRM's Broward Computing Services (BCS) continued its commitment to FAU and to the Broward community by recently donating 13 televisions to the non-profit organization Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc. (BPHI).
Rather than simply disposing of this unwanted equipment, IRM-BCS instead supported an organization whose main purpose is to help homeless individuals in Broward County get back on their feet.
These 13 televisions were originally located in instructional e-classroom facilities on the Davie and Fort Lauderdale campuses. These televisions were discarded as IRM's re-fresh program progressively upgraded technology equipment in recent years. The old television sets were replaced with high-end projectors to help professors provide a better learning environment.
Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc. manages the Broward County Central Homeless Assistance Center/Huizenga Family Campus (Center), a 57,000 ft2, 200-bed residential emergency shelter. More than 12,000 individuals and families have received assistance since the Center first opened its doors in 1999.

The facility provides emergency shelter and comprehensive services for up to 60 days. During that time, residents have the opportunity to stabilize, engage, and acquire the personal tools necessary to break the cycle of homelessness. The Center also provides a safe and nurturing environment designed to highlight alternatives to the street and provide residents with the means to reacquire health, housing, and a sustaining income.
BPHI is funded by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the Florida Department of Children & Families, the North Broward Hospital District, the Broward County School Board, the United Way of Broward County, and public grants and private contributions.
