This course is designed for faculty who have never used Blackboard. We will go over how to get started in Blackboard as well as cover some of the necessities needed when teaching a web assisted, hybrid, or fully online course.
Skills covered: Logging in, making your course available, your homepage, course list, customizing what you see, going into your course, edit mode, using the control panel, posting items, creating folders, posting files, and creating a syllabus. We will also go over basic course communication including sending emails, announcements, and setting up a contact list.

Discover some new features in Blackboard 9. This class will be a general overview of the new version. Bb9 has a completely new look and feel. New tools have been introduced, such as an “edit mode,” an easy drag and drop feature, mashups, more group features, blogs, wikis, journals, and more!

Blackboard 9 - Posting Content
Prerequisite: Blackboard Basics or previous Bb8 user
Duration: 2 hrs
In this course we will cover the steps involved in posting various types of content in your course (including audio, video, images and mashups) as well as file size restrictions, how to modify posted content and how to control access to it.

Blackboard 9 - Collaboration Tools

This course covers how to start using discussion boards, blogs, journals, and wikis. We will talk about how to set each tool up as well as ideas on how to use them in your course.
Blackboard 9 - Group Collaboration
Prerequisite: Blackboard Basics or previous Bb8 user
Duration: 2 hrs
This course covers group creation, assigning students to the groups, group management, discussion boards, sending email, and group assignments, and using blogs, wikis, and journals with your groups.

Blackboard 9 - Assignments and SafeAssign
Prerequisite: Blackboard Basics or previous Bb8 user
Duration: 2 hrs
This course covers how to post and manage Safe Assignments and Assignments. We will also cover how to read a SA report, what the matching score means, and how to download and grade the student submissions.

Blackboard 9 - Grade Center

This session covers creating columns in the Grade Center as well as how to enter grades and understand the various settings and options.

Blackboard 9 - Tests
Prerequisite: Blackboard Basics or previous Bb8 user
Duration: 2 hrs
This session will cover how to create an online test administered through Blackboard including the various question options, using pools, random blocks, and how to deploy the test to students. You will learn how to add your questions directly into Blackboard’s test manager. These tests can be graded automatically after the student has submitted it. We will also talk about the testing options once the test has been deployed and how to reset attempts and how to grade exams.
