Welcome to the

Weppner Center for LEAD & Service-Learning

Lead and Serve at FAU invests in students to become change agents.

We are committed to providing an atmosphere that fosters learning, personal growth, and exploration of individual and group leadership and service skills. These ideals are consistent to that of the University's mission. We have an ideal program for you whether you are new to FAU, an established student leader, faculty or staff, or somewhere in between!

The LEAD & Service-Learning staff strives to assist students in developing their abilities surrounding four Guiding Principles:
Know - We guide Owls to discover knowledge garnered from curricular and co-curricular experiences to build a foundation for self-awareness.
Be - We enable Owls to process knowledge for self-discovery to create their purpose, cause or beliefs.
Do - We motivate Owls to align knowing and being through demonstrating their purpose and competencies developed through lead and serve programs in their communities as measured through reflection after the fact or, post-action.
Inspire - We encourage Owls who are competent in demonstrating Know. Be. Do. to mobilize others in their communities to create positive change.

Student Leader Spotlight

Every month, LEAD & Service-Learning will spotlight one special student leader who has really demonstrated their ability to liberate the leader in other students. For this month's spotlight, we have chosen…Brian Robert Kaam

Brian Kaam had the opportunity to work with the Weppner Center for LEAD and Service-Learning as the Campus Vote Project Intern. In this role, Brian promoted voter engagement throughout the Boca Raton campus. It was a transformative experience for him as he registered students to vote while informing them about voting laws, and cultivated a culture of civic engagement among students. "I was thrilled to see students I registered to vote, actually vote for the first time, and participate in the democratic process," stated Brian of his experience. Brian plans on continuing to be civically engaged and making sure that every student that wants to vote gets the opportunity to do so.

Brian is a junior, majoring in Criminal Justice/Political Science. He was just named a member of the inaugural Student Advisory Board for the Campus Vote Project.
