Lead and Serve at FAU invests in students to become change agents.
We are committed to providing an atmosphere that fosters learning, personal growth, and exploration of individual and group leadership and service skills. These ideals are consistent to that of the University's mission. We have an ideal program for you whether you are new to FAU, an established student leader, faculty or staff, or somewhere in between!
The LEAD & Service-Learning staff strives to assist students in developing their abilities surrounding four Guiding Principles:
Know - We guide Owls to discover knowledge garnered from curricular and co-curricular experiences to build a foundation for self-awareness.
Be - We enable Owls to process knowledge for self-discovery to create their purpose, cause or beliefs.
Do - We motivate Owls to align knowing and being through demonstrating their purpose and competencies developed through lead and serve programs in their communities as measured through reflection after the fact or, post-action.
Inspire - We encourage Owls who are competent in demonstrating Know. Be. Do. to mobilize others in their communities to create positive change.

Every month, LEAD & Service-Learning will spotlight one special student leader who has really demonstrated their ability to liberate the leader in other students. For this month's spotlight, we have chosen…Kassandra "Kassi" Pedron
Kassandra Pedron (Kassi) is a dedicated student employee for FAU’s Weppner Center for LEAD and Service-Learning. For the last three years, Kassi has helped her peers access volunteer, leadership and community development opportunities to assist them with leading and serving within and outside the FAU community. As a senior double majoring in mathematics and chemistry, Kassi is often asked to assist with spreadsheets where data compilation and interpretation is more a hobby than a task for her. Kassi enjoys her job as a student employee explaining, “My favorite part about being a Weppner employee is the opportunities I have to help others as well as to grow professionally.”
After graduating Kassi plans to pursue a career in the chemical industry as well as a master’s in Chemical Engineering. Kassi’s interests range in reading, archery, chemistry, drawing, mathematics, music, piano, and video gaming. Kassi is also passionate about her family and animal welfare.
