As we celebrate Florida Atlantic University’s 50th anniversary, we take inspiration from William Shakespeare’s The Tempest : â€Å“What’s past is prologueâ€. Join us as we celebrate our musical heritage from the past as it influences and inspires musicians today. All concerts are in the University Theater unless otherwise indicated. The FAU Wind Ensemble performs Percy Grainger’s 1936 masterpiece for band, Lincolnshire Posy, along with Michael Daugherty’s film noir-esque Niagara Falls and Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman. Roof-raising, stand-up-and-cheer music to kick off the season!

Tuba Christmas 2!

Help support a tradition of holiday music, performed exclusively by tubas (and euphoniums)! This tradition started with Harvey G. Phillips, who was tuba professor at Indiana University. It has grown into a series of concerts that take place nationwide. Sean Murray has made it his mission to bring this tradition to Boca Raton, and the first annual concert was a huge success! A Tribute to Artists of the Holocaust: Seven Decades Later, a Survivor Remembered

Performance of works by Hungarian composer Samuel Blasz by Birgit Fioravante, soprano, and Heather Coltman, piano; selected works by Wladyslaw Szpilman (The Pianist) by Duo Turgeon, and the premier of a new work by FAU composer Stuart Glazer, performed by the Arden Duo.

The Chamber Singers enjoy a week-long residency with composer and Irish music specialist Michael McGlynn, culminating in this presentation of his works. Mr. McGlynn holds the Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar Chair in Music for 2011-2012.
