The Process for the Presidential Search

The process for identifying and selecting a new president varies from university to university. As FAU embarks on a search for a new president a variety of steps must take place.

Appointing an Interim President
The first step was naming an interim president. On Sept. 24, 2009, the Florida Board of Governors ratified the appointment of Dr. John F. Pritchett as interim president of Florida Atlantic University.

Appointing a Search Committee
The Board of Trustees must also appoint a presidential search committee. A group of 11 members representing a cross-section of FAU and the community has been appointed.

Choosing a Search Firm
R. William Funk & Associates has been chosen as the search firm.

The search committee and search firm will develop a position description, create a timeline, conduct interviews and recommend a candidate or candidates.

Updates about this process will be made to this site as they occur. Please check the Upcoming Events link, at left, often.
