Florida Atlantic University has served the Treasure Coast since the 1970s, partnering with Indian River State College (IRSC) to extend educational opportunities that take students from an associate’s degree to undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 1994, FAU purchased 50 acres of land in the St. Lucie West area of Port St. Lucie and moved into an existing building on the site. After operating for eight years with limited office space and classrooms, FAU joined IRSC in opening today’s unique joint-use facility.
The Treasure Coast Campus offers courses and degrees from FAU’s College of Education, College of Engineering and Computer Science and the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. Additional FAU locations on the Treasure Coast include Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at FAU in Fort Pierce and Palm Pointe K-8 Educational Research School in the Town of Tradition (operated by the Saint Lucie County School District in partnership with FAU).
