Purchasing Lookup Utility
Purchasing prepares to go Green ! In an effort to reduce our environmental impact and increase efficiencies, Purchasing will be introducing a number of new, green initiatives over the next two months. Upon completion, we will have eliminated over 1 million paper copies per yea r in favor of a more robust paperless system. Individuals will be able to query and view purchase orders at will using a new online system. In addition, vendors will receive their orders electronically. We expect the turn-over time to be impacted favorably as the traditional mailing/sorting process becomes obsolete.
Beginning in December 2009, individuals on the FAU network will be able to access “Private-Eye”, a new look-up utility that displays virtual images of purchase orders, requisitions, change orders, quotes, correspondence, etc. in favor of traditional paper copies which will be eliminated on January 1st. We have been hard at work converting data from the past 2 years into electronic format. The system is easy to navigate, does not require a Banner account, and allows for immediate retrieval by a variety of parameters. Users can opt to keep an electronic copy in Adobe format, or simply view the information on screen at any time. In fact, our pilot groups were able to start viewing virtual copies in as little as 30 seconds! We’d also like to point out that there were no monetary costs associated with the implementation of this system.
