Housing and Residential Life Staff will be conducting safety checks of student rooms. Rooms left unlocked will be identified to bring awareness to just how quickly personal belongings can go missing if doors are left unlocked.

Got your KIDS? It’s important to always stay safe, and carrying your ID is an important aspect of keeping yourself safe. Housing and Residential Life staff will conduct random checks asking for students to show them their KIDS (Keys & ID).

Information Session: FAU Diving Safety Program

University Village Apartments Staff will demonstrate tips and techniques for kitchen safety including baking, frying, etc. Followed by a brief cooking demonstration.

“Changing the Seams”

Boca Raton – Traditions Plaza (Bookstore Lawn)
Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement hosts “Changing the Seams”. This sexual assault awareness event champions the message that victims of sexual assault are not to be blamed. Students are asked to bring a pair of jeans to the event to decorate with artful messages against sexual assault. Featured speakers include FAU Victims Advocate, Angie Gifford, and an FAU police officer. The FAU Counseling Center and representatives from local sexual assault awareness agencies will be available with resources and ways to volunteer. FAU Alert System Test
All aspects of the FAU Alert System will be tested. The outdoor warning sirens will be activated on the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses. During this test, a loud siren sound (click here to play the sound) and a spoken message will be heard across campuses, as well as in neighborhoods and business areas located near the campuses. University-wide e-mail, text-messaging, telephone alert, web alert and emergency hotlines will also be tested. For more information, contact Sharlene Sookhoo at ssookhoo@fau.edu.

Campus Transportaion Safety
Presented by Night Owls Transportation Service
Night Owls will have signs in carts with safety advice and will be distributing flyers with information on how to keep safe around campus. Advice for students, faculty, staff, and interested guests about how to keep safety in mind when it comes to their cars and how they travel around campus. In the rush to attend classes and get used to college life, sometimes students forget commonplace things, like parking in a well-lit area or not having their keys out while approaching their cars.
