CDSI Alumni-of-the-Year

On May 2, 2012, President M.J. Saunders presented Alumni of the Year awards to each of the winners from FAU's seven colleges. The winner from the College for Design and Social Inquiry was Mathew Broadhurst, who graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2010. Mat, who was nominated by Professor Richard Mangan, is a special agent for the United States Department of Labor, Office of the Inspector General, Office of Labor Racketeering and Fraud Investigations. He conducts criminal investigations relating to programs and operations of the Department of Labor, which are aimed at preventing and detecting fraud, waste and abuse within US labor programs. Mat's investigations work to identify illegal activity by traditional and non traditional organized crime groups that adversely affect the American worker.

Mathew Broadhurst's job was a direct result of his placement at the US Department of Labor, Office of the Inspector General, through the CCJ Internship Program. Mat is currently pursuing a master's degree.
