Katie originally began her work with Student Affairs as Director of the Graduate Student Association in 2008. Katie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Florida Atlantic University. After obtaining her Master’s degree in Communication and Multimedia Studies from FAU and experience with both the hospitality and legal fields, she has returned to her passion, higher education. In addition to working with student organizations, Katie’s higher education background experience include the areas of organizational and leadership advancement, the Council of Student Organizations, A & S Fee and Travel Committees, new graduate student orientations, Greek life and more. Most of all, Katie enjoys her current role working with student organizations and assisting them with their development, fiscal management and event planning.

Alicia Keating Alicia Keating,
Associate Director of Student Involvement and Leadership
Alicia has over five years of experience in the field of Student Affairs, working with leadership programs as a graduate assistant at the University of South Florida; and also working as the Director of Student Activities at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, FL. Alicia has a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Business Administration; and a Masters Degree in College Student Affairs. Alicia enjoys working with students every day, and is motivated by seeing large scale campus programs come together.

Aloha Balza
Program Coordinator
Aloha Balza is the Program Coordinator for the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership on the Broward campuses. She received a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Tourism Management from New York University and a Master of Business Administration from Florida Metropolitan University. Before joining the FAU Student Affairs team in 2009, Aloha worked in corporate event planning and was a Training Coordinator with FAU’s Small Business Development Center, where she facilitated workshops to meet the needs of small businesses in South Florida. In her current position, Aloha oversees all Student Government programs on FAU’s southernmost campuses and advises Owl Productions, the program board of the Broward campuses. Her experience in special event management provides valuable insight to her students.
David Bynes
Associate Director
David D. Bynes currently serves as the Associate Director for Student Involvement & Leadership for FAU’s Broward Campuses. David received his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Elon University and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University.
He began his career in Student Affairs in 2001 at the University of Florida as the Assistant Director for Greek Life. From there, David moved on to become an Assistant Dean of Students for Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University of Virginia where, in addition to advising the Fraternity & Sorority community, his responsibilities included serving on the on-call crisis management team, serving on the University diversity committee, and overseeing the Students Educating and Empowering For Diversity (S.E.E.D.) Program.
David has served as the Assistant Director for the Southern Region of National Panhellenic Council (NPHC), Inc. and has been involved with the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). He is also a graduate of the Social Justice Training Institute (SJTI) and has participated as a facilitator with LeaderShape.
Nancy Brady
Program Assistant
A dedicated employee since 1997, Ms Brady has enjoyed lending her support to the many aspects of Students Affairs throughout her tenure at FAU. She received a Masters of Educational Leadership in Higher Education Administration from FAU in 2006, and works actively to engage students in campus activities because she believes involved students will have a more complete and meaningful educational experience. Adam Ferrando
Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Leadership
Adam Ferrando currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Leadership at the Jupiter campus. Adam is an FAU Alumnus who received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s of Arts in International Relations.
Adam has a strong leadership facilitation background as he has received recognition as an Order of Omega Scholar, a NSHS Scholar, a member of the Parliament of Owls (FAU’s Alumni Leadership Society) and an Excelsior Cup chapter recipient with Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Adam also has facilitated programs like; SigEp EDGE New Member Leadership Program, FAU Student Government Leadership Training and the FAU Northern Campus Student Leadership Institutes. Adam says what he loves about his career is the great work environment where students truly enjoy being active and engaged. In his free time Adam enjoys being outdoors and playing his guitar.

Treasure Coast Campus

Rochelle Popp
Assistant Director of Student Involvement & Leadership
Rochelle Popp is currently serving as the Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Leadership on the Treasure Coast Campus. She is the Student Government Advisor on the Treasure Coast Campus and represents the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement and Service on the Northern Campuses. Rochelle serves on various University-Wide Committees and is active member of her community. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Indian River State College in the Business Administration Department.
Rochelle received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. She has been working in Student Affairs professionally for 3 years here at FAU.
