INVITATION TO NASW Meeting in Boca March 18th
Margaret Croney, MSW of the NASW FL chapter in Boca Raton has asked me to invite you to their meetings on the third Monday of each month (their next meeting is this Monday, March 18), at the Whitehall Nursing Home in Boca. Whitehall provides attendees with dinner at 6:00 pm. Participants are guaranteed to "have a great time getting to know other workers in the area and learning new and inspiring ideas to help us with Social Work." RSVP to Margaret if you are planning to come so that they know how much food to order: CBJgeriatrics@aol.com
For the March 18th meeting, they are featuring a panel discussion on legal issues dear to the hearts of social workers everywhere. Our advocacy role has always been important. We need to be well informed if we are to become a powerful political force. It's the only way to further the economic and political interests of our clients as well as our own interests as a profession.
Our speakers will be: Dion Mastrascino, LCSW on gay and lesbian issues; Cindy Fakhoury of the Boca Raton Police Dept. on Child and Domestic Abuse; and Robert Goodman, MSW, summarizing the current legislative session and the state budget. Because of the number of speakers and the breadth of our subject, we will be starting the business portion of our meeting precisely at 6:15 and will go until 8pm as usual. Dinner will be at 6. Bring your questions; I'm sure the discussion will be lively.
Please RSVP to Meena at CBJgeriatrics@aol.com by March 11.
Directions to Whitehall Nursing Home: take Palmetto Park Road about 2.5 miles west of I-95 (west of Powerline Rd) and turn right on Del Prado Circle. Whitehall is on the right side on Del Prado Circle. ng in SW and to network for jobs.
Thanks. Hope to see you on the 18th.

Congratulations to Keith Platt, longtime instructor at the School of Social Work, who has been accepted to the prestigious Smith College PhD program starting this summer. Keith will be back here in the fall, so students (and Faculty) need not worry that we're losing Keith as a teacher during his studies.
