I obtained a BSW and MSW from FAU, and I look back at my years at FAU acknowledge some of the greatest memories. Advise me when there is a Ph.D program for Social Work as that is something I would love to do.

Presently I am a Financial Sercices Social Worker for Jewish Family Services in Broward Cty. I love my work and I credit all my knowledge to the wonderful and outstanding professors that I had when I attended FAU. And yes I do miss attending classes....Thanks for everything! Melinda

It's so great to hear all the great things everyone is doing! I am working with All 'Bout Children (where I did my first internship) and I wear many hats. I am program director of the Childcare Community Social and Emotional Wellness Program where we provide therapeutic services for at-risk children, their teachers and families. We also train teachers and community members to become "therapeutic agents". I get to work with and train interns from FAU (one of my favorite parts of my job).

I teach a course at Palm Beach State College on Social and Emotional Wellness for Young Children and present workshops on trauma and play therapy through All 'Bout Children's Play Therapy Academy for CEUs.

I also have a private practice in Boca Raton where I specialize in Trauma and utilize EMDR along with other techniques.

Life is good, my boys are almost grown and I am now the shortest person in my family!

Since I earned my MSW at FAU in 2006, I've become an LCSW and a CAP. Since graduation, I have been working at ADAP Counseling, a private agency in Stuart, primarily focusing on substance abuse treatment. I am also teaching anger management and I work with people who are referred by DCF and EAP as well. I love what I do!

I graduated FAU with my BSW in Dec. 1993. I have had many jobs related to child welfare and mental health over the years and recently graduated with my PhD from CSU. I am currently teaching in the BSW program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I teach social work practice with individuals and families, child welfare classes, and classes related to violence and family issues. I have been a licensed clinical social worker since 1999 and have specialized in infant mental health since 2005. One memory of FAU that has really stuck with me through the years is spending the night in a shelter, near the everglades with Dr. Campoverde!

I am married to a wonderful guy named Bryan, no children (yet) and have a cute puppy, well dog, named Dutch.

Greeting everyone!
I graduated in May 2008 and in July I was hired by Family Promise of SPBC as Network Director. We are a sheltering system that supports families with dependent children who are experiencing homelessness. We accomplish this by mobilizing communities of faith to host our guests within their synagogue, church or mosque. This requires approximately 50-70 volunteers each week. These congregations provide hospitality including food, nightly shelter, dignity, and respect. They also are eyes and ears for our quests in their quest for jobs and housing. It is a wonderful community service. While at the Day Center they receive case management, life skills, therapy, and other services, that empower our guests on their journey in achieving sustainable independence.
I am blessed to have found a job that fits my passion and background. Life is GRAND!

This web-site is so interesting and such a great tool to stay connected, and to see how our professional journeys have unfolded. After my 2 years clinical internship with an agency in WPB working with victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse as well as the general counseling population, I passed my licensure exam in 2007. As an LCSW, I am currently working with an outpatient diversion program in Fort Lauderdale, providing therapy to child/teen sexual offenders and their families, including cases of TPR/DV. A great clinical experience to look at both ends of the spectrum. Parallel to that, I am excited about being in private practice with location in Delray Beach and Hollywood. As a private practitioner, my focus rests on improving life strategies & self-esteem, relationship dynamics, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress, recovery from trauma. I'll keep you posted when my web-site is up and running, networking and professional exchange is so important. Greetings to the professors and best wishes to everyone!

My husband and I opened an “affordable” Private Therapeutic Agency ( www.trinityharbor.com). My husband Chris will be attending FAU to study Social Work in the very near future. I hope everyone is doing well and would love to hear more from any of my former classmates. Much Thanks to all the wonderful

Hey I just found out about this social work alumni networking site. Great idea! I recently got into the home health care company and love it. Its a great feeling helping people who need any kind of care at home. My company gets Aides, caregivers, or Nurses for patients who need help.

Most of my business deals with helping seniors. But I want to get involved in helping children with disabilities as well. If anybody has any suggestions on the most effective way to get involved in that please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Its great to see so many alumni doing well. All the best!

I graduated with my BSW from FAU in 99 and went on to take my Master's from FSU, where I graduated in 2000. FAU did not have the wonderful Masters Program they have now. I received by LCSW in 2004 and have a private practice working with the elderly in the community. I also work for the Veterans Administration and and the Social Work coordinator for the Mental Health Clinic in Sebring, FL.
Fred Brown, BSW (2002) works in my private practice with me and we enjoy the elders we come to know so well in our practice. We urge other social work students to look to working with the geriactric population.

Best regards to the social work department and everyone who made the graduate program into what it is. I had a great cohort / professors, and overall excellent experience with the FAU MSW program. I'm happily married and we have a teenage son. I'm working as Director of Social Services for the Innocence Project of Florida; the only viable innocence project in the state where pro-bono services are provided toward exonerating wrongfully incarcerated people via establishing innocence through conclusive DNA testing.

Well Now most of you know that I teach at FAU, but did you also know that I received ny BSW degree from FAU in 1989. Boy was the department a lot smaller then. FAU has grown and so has the School of Social Work. I'm glad I got my BSW from FAU. Many doors have opened for me because of my time there.

Hi All,
I'm still working in the trenches with the homeless population in PBC. I'm happy to report that I passed the clinical exam and can now move on to another task as an LCSW. I'm job searching and would love to work with children in a prevention type program. Leads are appreciated. All the best to everyone and keep on doing the exceptional work we do as social workers.

Hi Everyone....

I wanted to change my email address since the last update.
Sounds like things are going well!!!
I have been volunteering for the Red Cross at the Boynton Beach shelter for the hurricane Katrina survivors, transported to our area from New Orleans. I am grateful for this opportunity. Its been awesome! I have also just finished training for the state volunteer program (SHINE) Servicing Health Insurance Needs of Elders at the Agency on Aging and Elder Affairs. I also attended a Social Work Oncology Conference a couple weeks ago to network and meet new friends. It was fun. Now I am actively seeking employement!!! I will keep you posted. Take Care.....

Hello All!

It is so nice to have this website and be able to see what my fellow classmates are doing. My very best to each of you.

I am working as a Hospice Social Worker at HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc. I was fortunate enough to be offered a full time position approximately 3 weeks prior to graduation. I love my work. It is very rewarding. Each day is different and the wonderful gifts I receive from my patients and their families make me realize how fortunate I am to be in the position that I am in. I do a lot of clinical work and deal with patients of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds. I have also been doing a lot of conflict mediation with family members as well as crisis counseling.

Needless to say, no two days are the same.
Personally, I am in the process of working through the system so I can eventually obtain my LCSW. I have also begun to diet and exercise so I can get rid of all the doritos, choclate chip cookies and excess junk I lived on while in graduate school.

If anyone would like to contact me, please feel free to do so.

Stay Well All.

Hello fellow classmates! I'm very happily working where I interned my first year, at Center for Family Services, WPB! I work full-time as a therapist for victims of crime and service children and adults. It is exciting to be able to feel like I'm really helping people. This is a wonderful agency in which to work: ongoing staff development and supervision for licensure are in addition to friendly, professional staff. I wish the best to everyone and hope more folks add to this list!

WOW! Great to see my friends here! I've finally left the trenches of child welfare (DCF) and am working as a TBOS therapist with children and adolescents. I've got the ID badge and everything, I'm an actual therapist- ha! I've joined the Young Democrats of Palm Beach County and look foward to getting involved with the politics that make our work so...shall we say challenging. Personally I'm working on balancing my aura and karma through yoga and massages! Good stuff...

My track in school was children and families though my passion has always been for mental illness. Presently, my employment is with a dialysis company where I am a medical social worker and the company's regional social work advisor. I travel alittle bit, work on policy and procedures for the company, and do lots of clinical work with chroniclly ill patients. My skills require grant writing knowledge, supervisory skills, and understanding of mental health diagnosis.

I have been trying unsucessfully since graduation to pursue a Ph.D
