FAU's Police Department Role in Assisting Students

The Florida Atlantic University Police Department encompasses a full service police department with a twenty-four dispatch center.  The police department is staffed with state certified police officers and a variety of civilian positions.  Our organizational chart reflects the various divisions within the department. ( www.fau.edu/police)

FAU police officers are all state certified police officers that have met the mandatory training requirements and the continuing education requirements required by state statute for all Florida police officers.  All officers receive advanced, ongoing training in excess of the mandatory requirements.  Many of our officers hold advanced or specialized certifications.  Officers are responsible for enforcing Florida criminal and traffic statutes, as well as FAU rules and regulations.  The safety and well being of the University community is our upmost priority and is accomplished through a strong presence based on a community oriented policing model.
