Referring a Student to the Student Intervention Team

Members of the campus community can refer a student to the Student Intervention Team (SIT) by contacting the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at 561-297-3542 or deanofstudents@fau.edu . The Dean will then present the student’s situation to the SIT and SCAC (Student Crisis Awareness Committee) for discussion and options for assistance.

The SIT is available to assist with a student in distress or in crisis. As a caring community, you are not alone in these matters relating to students.  A referral to the SIT would be warranted in situations where there are multiple concerns that may require a coordinated response from multiple campus departments such as; the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students Office, Counseling Center and FAU Police Department (FAUPD).   You may contact the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students for both consultation and referral.  The student will only be contacted if the situation deems necessary to develop an action plan to assist the student.

In an emergency situation, please call FAU PD by dialing 911.
