Information for:

Lectures & Outreach

As the only planning program in the South Florida metropolitan region, the School of Urban & Regional Planning takes on the significant responsibility of providing South Florida with intellectual planning-related programs and performing meaningful civic-engagement activities.

Lectures & Outreach

The historic Wednesday Lecture Series has been a popular source of innovative thought, insight and information from leaders in the fields of planning, policy, and urban design for nearly ten years. Lectures are attended by students, faculty and the public and have recently been live-streamed on the SURP website to accommodate a national and international audience.

The annual celebration of World Town Planning Day in November and other special events and presentations are almost always free and open to the public. Beginning in 2009, SURP has video recorded most lectures and presentations to preserve these resources for those that could not attend and future generations of students and the general public.

The Florida Atlantic Planning Society (FAPS) and the Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions (CUES) both regularly organize and perform outreach and civic-engagement activities throughout South Florida. Activities range from community waterway cleanups to nationally-recognized pop-up urbanism events like Better Block and Park(ing) Day.

All lectures, presentations and events are listed on the SURP Calendar. If you would like to be added to the SURP mailing list please email nesteve1@fau.edu with your information.
