Dr. Eric Dumbaugh is an Associate Professor and Director of the School of Urban & Regional Planning. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Georgia Tech, and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering and City Planning, also from Georgia Tech. His research areas include street and community design, urban mobility, transportation systems planning, and the effects of transportation investments on sustainability and livability. Dr. Dumbaugh’s published works include “Safe Urban Form: Revisiting the Relationship between Community Design and Traffic Safety,” which received the 2009 award for Best Paper from the Journal of the American Planning Association, and “The Design of Safe Urban Roadsides,” which received the Transportation Research Board’s 2006 Award for Outstanding Paper in Geometric Design.
