Bachelor of Arts in Theatre – General Education
In the liberal arts tradition, the FAU Bachelor of Arts in Theatre is intended for students seeking a broad exposure to the study of theatre and drama. The B.A. in Theatre is a carefully balanced program designed for students interested in blending artistry with the academic. Each major is given ample opportunities to learn and experience theatre from a number of vantage points including: acting, design, history, dramatic theory, stage management technology, directing and dance. Colorful Dance Theatre addresses today’s market demand for individuals who can think critically, creatively, and collaboratively, learning to integrate research and insight. As a collaborative artists theatre students acquire interpersonal communication skills and group problem-solving strategies. A natural place to integrate intellectual, creative, and communicative arts, the FAU Department of Theatre and Dance provides outlets for students to engage in interdisciplinary, critical and creative work both in the classroom and on stage.
Learning to think and act precisely in the moment, to speak confidently with clarity and intelligence, and to work productively with others, are skills that transcend theatre, opening opportunities to a host of other professions. The B.A. in Theatre is a program well suited for those who may eventually wish to pursue advanced degrees such as the M.A. and/or Ph.D. after graduation.
