For the previous three years Mr. Wilson has been chairing the university’s first comprehensive capital campaign, Pillars for the Future. Mr. has served as the public face for the campaign and truly led the $10.35M effort. As if leading the effort wasn’t enough, Stan and his wife Debi (also an alum) have made one of the “lead gifts” to the campaign pledging to create a new presidential scholarship. Professionally, Mr. Wilson focuses on defending employers in employment-related litigation and in traditional labor matters, including unfair labor practice proceedings, representation cases, arbitrations, and collective bargaining.
Alumni Heritage Award: Barbara “Babs” McAlister ’62
Nearly since the day Babs finished her education degree at GSCW in 1962, “Babs” has been an alumni leader. Babs rarely gets the limelight for her tireless dedication and selfless service to her alma mater. In the past few years Babs has been one of the volunteer leaders for the “Golden Slipper” reunions in Milledgeville and Atlanta. She also is chairing the Class of 1962 reunion to fantastic results. Babs has had a leadership role on the Alumni Board chairing the very critical Scholarship Committee for the past several years. In short, Babs is a servant leader that demonstrates quiet leadership and serves as an example to us all. In addition to her Georgia College “work,” Babs serves in volunteer leadership roles at her church and throughout the Palmetto community.
Alumni Achievement Award: Sherrilyn Kenyon ’85
In the past three years, New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon has claimed the #1 spot sixteen times. With more than 25 million copies of her books in print in over 100 countries, her current series include: The Dark-Hunters (conceived in Wells Residence Hall), The League, Chronicles of Nick, and Belador. Since 2004, she has placed more than 50 novels on the New York Times list.
Recent Alumni Award: Anthony “Morgan” Stallings ’03
Since graduation Mr. Stallings has quickly distinguished himself as a Senior Consultant at Booz, Allen, Hamilton - a leading technology and organizational consulting firm. Since graduating with a master’s degree from American University Morgan has regularly been a part of panels on career services and “Getting into Graduate” school.
Ethel Rae Mozo-Stewart Service Award: Keith Barlow ’91
Mr. Barlow serves as publisher of The Union-Recorder in Milledgeville. His civic contributions are nearly too long to list but include Habitat for Humanity, the Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce, Milledgeville Players, Salvation Army, American Heart Association, and Forward Baldwin just to name a few. Further, he is an active Rotarian and has served in numerous leadership capacities. He also currently serves on the Advisory Board for the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College.
