Interested in an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)?

The curriculum in the Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing is designed to meet the health care needs of the 21st century.  The curriculum focuses on the registered nurse's role in the communities, hospitals, clinics, home health care, and gerontology. 

Students who successfully complete the ADN program will be eligible to take the NCLEX exam to earn their licensure to become a Registered Nurse (RN).

Quick Facts about the Kent State University Geauga Campus and Regional Academic Center ADN Program:

  • Housed at the Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg.  Lectures and labs are usually held at the location in Twinsburg.  Clinicals can be held at any Northeast Ohio area hospital.
  • Admission is selective.
  • Students must apply to the ADN program no later than February 1st for Fall Admission.
  • The program takes 4 semesters to complete with optional coursework in the summer.
  • There is a Day Track and an Alternative Track Option.
    • The Day Track classes and clinicals are typically held between the hours of 7 AM – 5 PM.  There may be some requirements outside of this time frame.
    • The Alternative Track classes and clinicals are typically held Monday – Friday from early afternoon until as late as 1 AM.  Most clinicals are 3:00 PM-11:30 PM, sometimes Saturday and Sunday. There may be some requirements outside of this time frame.

ADN Program Admission Requirements

  • 2.7 overall cumulative GPA from your most recent school
    • If you have ever attended any Kent State campus in the past, we will use your Kent GPA, even if it is the oldest
  • Coursework completed in Algebra, Biology, and Chemistry either in high school or college
  • Competency proven through coursework and/or assessment testing in Algebra, Writing, and Reading.  All prescribed developmental coursework complete.
  • Information Session attended
  • Admitted to Kent State University
  • All transcripts received
  • All C- or lower grades in required classes "fixed"
