Georgia Perimeter College is partnering with Georgia Southwestern State University to offer the state’s first three--year accelerated bachelor’s degree in Georgia. This program, offered online, began in the spring of 2011 at GPC. In addition, they have added two more major options for students which can be completed in the traditional 4 year time frame ("2+2" - 2 years at Georgia Perimeter College, 2 years at Georgia Southwestern State University) .
The first-half of this program requires student completing Associate's of Science in Business Administration degree which can be completed either online or face-to-face at GPC. The second half of the program is offered online at Georgia Southwestern State University. This degree enables any student to complete both the associate of science (AS) and the bachelor of business administration (BBA) degrees.
The Fastrac (three-year) degree in business administration offers students two major options: accounting or management
The "2+2" option in business administration offers students four major options: accounting, human resource management, management, and marketing.
Students must initially apply to Georgia Perimeter College, and then to Georgia Southwestern State University during the last semester of course work at GPC.
“In addition, this joint venture is just an outstanding example of cooperation within the University System of Georgia institutions,” said Georgia Southwestern State University President Dr. Kendall Blanchard.
“The program not only highlights the entrepreneurial spirit of both institutions, but also shows that we recognize the needs of Georgians in these tough economic times. We have to work together within the USG to give our constituents the relevant education they need now,” Blanchard said.
“The new program gives GPC students more flexibility in a demanding and changing world,” said GPC Academic Vice President Philip Smith. “This new and exciting degree option will allow students to receive two University System of Georgia-granted degrees in just three years, and provides great flexibility for the student in terms of increasing their earning power and getting them into the workplace faster and better prepared. It’s a win-win situation all the way around.”
