FACA – Animal Control Officer Certification Course
This instructor led classroom course provides basic instruction in areas of concern to personnel whose duties include capture, control, keeping and disposing of domestic and wild animals. Instruction includes legal procedures, veterinary considerations, and domestic animal anatomy. Use of restraint and capture equipment; report writing procedures; driver’s awareness; human, public and violator relations and euthanasia considerations are among topics covered. (40 hours)

Bite Stick Workshop – Animal Control Officers
This instructor led class will provide basic instruction in the proper use of the bite stick or “expandable baton.” Because of the ease of carry on the Animal Control Officer’s belt and the availability of this light weight defensive tool, the bite stick and assorted attachments, i.e., flashlight, beveled mirror, and entry tool, make the bite stick one the most tactically efficient officer safety / survival tool for use by Animal Control. Instruction will include the history of the expandable batons, officer survival, principles of control, tactical applications of the bite stick / expandable batons for animal control officers, and the Florida Administrative Code dealing with the use of “tools of opportunity” in the Animal Control Officer defending himself / herself against attacks by both animals and or humans. (5 hours)
