All first-time students who wish to enroll in courses must see an academic adviser in order to establish the student's initial academic plan. The initial advising session is a time when new students work with a Master Adviser who assists the student in the transition to college and plans the student's first semester at Gulf Coast. During the student's first semester the student is assigned to a Primary Adviser according to the student's stated degree objective. The student and his or her Primary Adviser complete the student's degree plan and work together to ensure that the student understands what is necessary to meet the degree requirements.
