Summer Vacation Book Swap
Beginning Monday, May 21st, students in all grades can bring in grade-appropriate, gently used books to the Library. The collection of books will run through Friday, June 1st. On Monday, June 4th, students who donated books can come back to the Library to select books of interest to take with them. Congratulations to Andre Arslan
CONGRATULATIONS TO ANDRE ARSLAN FROM THE MATH DEPARTMENT AND HUNTER MATH TEAM
Congratulations to Andre Arslan on winning the USAMO (Unites States of America Mathematics Olympiad) competition! It took three competitions (AMC 12- 25 questions in 75minutes, AIME- 15 questions in 3 hours, and USAMO- 6 proofs in 9 hours), innate talent, and relentless dedication to problem solving! Andre is the second student in the history of Hunter to win this national competition (Jeremy Kahn was a winner in the 1983, 1985, 1986). Among all other national 11 winners, Andre will attend the Math Olympiad Summer Program at the end of which 6 students will be chosen to represent the US in the International Mathematics Olympiad.
E.I, Marienhoff Prize
Congratulations to Emma Almon on winning the E.I, Marienhoff prize for best research paper on topics in history, politics, and law. The title of the paper is “The Constitutive Shield”. Appreciation and thanks to Irving Kagan, teacher of Constitutional Law.
Congrats from Social Studies Dept
The Social Studies Department congratulates members of the Euro Challenge team and their advisor Angela Sheldon on winning 2nd place in the Euro Challenge competition. The following members will share a $5,000.00 cash prize and a trip to Washington DC where they will meet with the IMF and the European Union Delegation to the United States: Leo Elliot, Lucas Deysine, Tian Weinberg, Alex Geisler, Duncan Kimmel, Fandi Tang, Yoni Nachmany, Eric Blohm.
The Social Studies Department congratulates members of the History Bowl Team on winning the National History Bowl Championship in Washington DC in competition with 140 high school teams. Congratulations to Richard Yu who took second place in the individual History Bee. Team members: Richard Yu, York Chen, Paul Maschetti, and Zihan Zheng. David Xu was there to support the team and he served as a reader during the competition.
