Financial Aid Eligibility
Who is eligible?
To be eligible to receive financial aid at Heartland Community College, a student must be enrolled at HCC and meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled as an undergraduate student pursuing a degree or eligible certificate;
- Have a valid high school diploma or GED.
A student must also:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen;
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress* (available in PDF format, 86 KB, 3 pages);
- Not be in default on any education loan;
- Be registered with Selective Service if a male over the age of 18;
- Have graduated from an "eligible" high school;
- Have no convictions for the sale or possession of illegal drugs (depends upon the date of conviction); and
- Not receive financial aid at more than one school for the same period of time.

How much am I eligible to receive?
The amount of financial aid received from the various programs is based on the credit hours of enrollment. Enrollment status for fall and spring semesters is defined as follows:

| 0-5 * | less than half-time |
| 6-8 | half-time |
| 9-11 | three-quarter time |
| 12+ | full-time |
*Not eligible for some financial aid programs.
Note: Financial aid offered by Heartland cannot be transferred to any other school.
