Heartland's knowledgeable librarians have assembled a list of some of the more reliable Web sites.

What are some credible sites about popular culture?

  • TV Acres

This site offers a subject guide to characters, places and things that appeared on American television from the 1940s to the present during prime time hours and Saturday mornings. (NOTE: The site's subject guide and search function take some getting used to, but work well once understood.)

  • Your Place in Time

This site is based on an exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum that highlights five generations of the 20th century and explores the everyday technologies that shaped each of those generations. A timeline of major technological and social events is divided by decade from 1900 through the 1990s.

Always remember to evaluate your sources.
