The Highland associate of arts degree in art (AA)
provides the essential background knowledge for a
student to succeed in the field of studio art, painting,
drawing, and design. The program provides comprehensive
study of art, including art history and modern art,
with studio experience. This HCC program is designed
for a student pursuing a baccalaureate degree in visual
art. However, it is also possible to start a career by
applying the skills learned in this two-year program.
Graphic Design
Associate of Applied Science
Highland’s graphic design associate of applied science
program (AAS) is designed to provide entry-level job
skills necessary in the graphic design field. By using
HCC’s state-of-the-art computer software, students
discover and master the fundamentals of typography,
layout, and design, while creating projects. Students also
explore web site design, animation, and multimedia.
Possible Career Paths
Art majors may pursue careers as illustrators, graphic
designers, package designers, commercial designers,
architectural designers, art historians, professional
artists, and art educators.
