Meet David

My name is David Jacobs. I received my GED in 2002, after being home schooled for the last three years of my high school career. From the very first moment of orientation I could tell that my experience here at Highland’s GED program would be productive.

Everyone I encountered in the program: teachers, staff, and administrators, were always extremely dedicated to their jobs and the entire adult education community. They took on a personal interest in every student, which proved their dedication. After I received my GED, I went through a series of college transition workshops, offered through the adult education program, in preparation to enter college, I am now in my second semester as a full time student at Highland Community College, with a 4.0 GPA. I know that I owe a lot to the staff and teachers in the GED program for helping me build a foundation for personal growth, and for giving me the confidence to achieve my goals.

Meet Nichole

After completing her GED and working for a year, Nichole returned to the Adult Education Department at Highland Community College for transition assistance and a little help getting started in a college degree program. She said, “GED Plus was helpful to me because I did not know where to begin to apply for admission. The program gave me good advice and support and answered my questions. GED Plus paved the way to a smooth entrance into college, and I think I will be more successful in my first course.”
