Wait List Policy

When classes are full, students may place themselves on the wait list in their ROAR (by selecting Web Waitlist from the drop down box and clicking submit changes) account or in our office.

There is no guarantee that they will have entrance into the class.

Students can register for one section (ex. Psy 161) and WL (Wait list) for another section (Psy 161).  If a spot opens up, the student will be dropped from the registration class and be added to the WL class.

Students are moved from the wait list to being registered every week (if a student is dropped by themselves, for lack of full payment, or for lack of pre-requisite) if there is an opening and based on the order they entered the wait list.  This is the only time HCC would send a schedule bill to students as an update.

Cross List – Classes such as Drafting, Math Lab, Astronomy, etc have other classes (in same department) that share the same room (In ROAR, a cross list is designated when it has an XL on the far right).  Even though the CRN says there are spots remaining, there are other classes (cross list) that help fill up the cross list.

The wait list turns off a week before the semester starts.  The week before classes start, the Enrollment Services office sends out wait list tickets to the first four on the WL

Exceptions:

The students’ responsibility (if they receive a wait list ticket) is to present the ticket to the instructor (on the first day of class) and see if the instructor will sign the ticket and allow them into the class.  It is the instructor’s responsibility to turn the ticket (if it is signed) into Enrollment Services after the first day of class.
