FMLA Poster (February 2011)
The National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law by President Bush in January of 2008. The Act expanded the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 and provides new leave rights related to military service which will take effect on January 16, 2009.
The new leave entitlements include Military Caregiver Leave, which provides family members of injured service members with up to 26 work weeks of leave in a single 12-month period and Qualifying Exigency Leave, which allows family members of the National Guard and Reserves to use up to the normal 12 work weeks of FMLA leave to manage the affairs of a service member while he or she is on active duty in support of a contingency operation.
Questions or additional information related to these new leave options may be directed to HR Records Administration at 4-4408.
