There are two M.S.ED. programs within the early childhood education master’s degree program. Program 1 is for students without prior teaching certification. Program 2 is for students with NYS initial, professional, or permanent certification in childhood education, elementary education PreK-6, special education, or TESOL. The early childhood programs are not designed for applicants who already have initial certification in early childhood education (ECE). Students who seek a master’s degree and who already have ECE initial certification may want to consider the early childhood special education program or some other certification area at the graduate level. The programs in early childhood education have been recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
