Note: This same reporting message is also available by calling (908) 231-7511. If the reporting message were not to be available on either the telephone or the internet, you must report to the courthouse at 9:00 A.M.


Failure to Report

Jurors who fail to report as summoned are subject to a $500 fine or may be punished for contempt of court.

Dress Code

Jurors must wear clothing appropriate for an appearance in Court. Shorts, T-Shirts, or clothing with statements or offensive symbols are not permitted. Police uniforms should not be worn. Work uniforms should not be worn.

Courtroom Regulations

Cell phones, pagers and electronic devices must be turned off.
You are not permitted to read newspapers or other materials
You are not permitted to bring food or beverages into the courtroom.

If You Are Selected As A Juror

The trial judge will instruct you regarding the trial schedule and reporting times.
You must wear your juror badge at all times including during lunch.

Other Factors Relating to Your Juror Service

Jurors are provided free parking in our Parking Garage located on East High Street.

We have a microwave and a refrigerator for your use.

Wireless Internet access is also available in the Jurors' Assembly Room.

Petit Jurors will receive $5.00 a day for the first three days after which they will receive $40.00 a day.

Checks are processed every Friday from Trenton and will be received within three weeks.

Jurors whose service is rescheduled will receive verification of their new date.

Complimentary coffee and tea are provided in our Jurors' Assembly Room.

Grand Jurors must report at the time and date printed on their summons.

State Grand Jurors will be notified of their summons date at a later time.

Smoking Policy

The courthouse is a non-smoking facility.

Employment Protection

N.J.S.A. 2B:20-17 protects jurors from employment related retaliation. There are criminal and civil sanctions.
Jury service will not affect your unemployment benefits.

Emergency Closings

For Courthouse Closings or delayed openings please call (908) 231-7511 or check the judiciary's website at www.judiciary.state.nj.us/closings.htm. Court Closings will also be announced on WKXW (101.5 FM) or WAEB 790 AM, WZZO 95.1 FM and WBUD 1260 AM.

Term of Service

Petit Jurors are on-call for four days or one trial. You must check the juror reporting message by calling (908) 231-7511 or www.judiciary.state.nj.us/juryreporting on Friday evening after 5:00 P.M.for Monday’s reporting instructions. You must also check the message on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of your reporting week after 5:00 P.M. for the next day’s reporting instructions. There is no jury selection on Fridays. If your number is within the range to report, you must report the next day. If you are chosen for the selection process of a trial you must remain until the selection is completed. You are required to serve no more than once every three years.
