Ghana Study Abroad

What?

This is a short- term interdisciplinary study abroad program to GHANA. The Ghana Study Abroad course is a multidisciplinary academic opportunity for students to discover and engage in the socio-cultural aspects of a West African country.

Where?

The program is in GHANA, located in West Africa.  It is a 12 day program. The actual travel to Ghana takes place from May 21 thru June 1, 2011. We plan to offer the program once each year.

When?

This program is being offered for the first time and will take place during the Summer May 2011 Intersession. The class is slated for May 16 – June 3, 2011.   The travel to Ghana takes place from May 21 thru June 1, 2011.

Cost?

The estimated cost for the trip is $3,600.00.   This includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from Cleveland, Ohio to Ghana
  • Meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner except for breakfast on the day of arrival
  • Transportation to all historic/cultural/educational destinations
  • Accommodations
  • Guiding Services (a trained licensed driver & tour guide will accompany group at all times)
  • Entry Fees (all entry fees included) 

*Additional Costs: These fees do not include costs for Passport & Visa, Tuition, and Immunizations.

Additional Information

This class is designed to take a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 students. Since this is the first opportunity for the program to be offered, we would like to have a minimum of 15 students attend.

This program is being sponsored by the Department of Pan-African Studies in cooperation with  the Office of International Affairs, the Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education, and the office of Experiential Education & Civic Engagement.
