Welcome to my Boot Camp for Frosh.  I’m here to offer helpful study tips and ways to improve your chances of achieving academic success. 

Midterms are important. Your success on midterms is a good predictor of your overall college success.  Students with a 2.0+ GPA have a 25 percent higher chance to remain in college.

So crack those books!  I hope you’ll begin your academic shape up early! Look for my tips each week on this page.

4 weeks until midterms:

• Are you keeping up with your reading?
• Are you participating in class?
• Are you doing your homework?
• Are you attending labs?
• Have you done your library tour?
• Have you joined or formed study groups?

3 weeks until midterms

• Have you checked out the academic support services available to you?
• Math/ASC/Writing Center
• Are you reviewing your class material on a regular basis?
• Have you met with your instructor?
• Have you visited your faculty member's office hours?

2 weeks until midterms

• Are you studying on a regular basis?
• Get a good night's sleep!
• Exams are coming, are you prepared?
• It's not too late....

1 week until midterms

• Are you prepared?
• Do you need more help? Check out the academic support services available
• to you.
• Seek out your advisor in your college/school unit, your orientation instructor, residence hall staff, a RETAIN advisor or an advisor in Undergraduate Studies.
• Ask questions if you are confused or having problems.
