Students can select from one of three concentrations: park management, recreation management and tourism management.
The park management concentration focuses on providing opportunities for outdoor recreation and protecting the resources on which those opportunities depend.
The recreation management concentration focuses on recreation and leisure services in public, community and outdoor settings.
The tourism management concentration focuses on services in tourism industries and sustainable destination development.
Professionals in the recreation, parks & tourism industry held about 740,000 jobs in 2010. Jobs were held in areas such as national and regional parks, tour destinations, theme parks, public park and recreation agencies, private non-profit organizations such as Y.M.C.A.s The majority of positions, about 380,000, were in the tourism industry. General Admissions for Freshman Students: Students most likely to be admitted and succeed at the Kent Campus are those who have graduated with at least 16 units of the recommended college preparatory curriculum in high school, who have achieved a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), and whose composite ACT score is 21 or better (980 combined critical reading and math SAT score). General Admissions for Transfer Student:Generally, a transfer applicant who has taken 12 or more semester hours with a college cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale may be admitted. An applicant who has taken fewer than 12 semester hours will be evaluated on both collegiate and high school records. Minimum 121 credit hours. Minimum 2.25 major and 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA to declare Business minor. Business minor and 2.50 minor GPA is required for graduation.
