Internships
Students in the Kent State University Horticulture Technology program must fulfill two diverse, paid internships in one of many "learning laboratories."
The internship experience can be very diverse. Green industry companies both from the public sector and private sector are frequently asking institutions of higher learning for students. Inquiries come from landscape design firms, nursery growers, landscape construction companies, landscape management firms, turfgrass management companies, irrigation management companies, golf courses, municipal entities, private horticulture estates, governmental agencies, urban forestry organizations, chemical companies, arborists, and park services, to name a few.
Most, if not all, pay well and provide great experiences that serve students for resume building and references, as well as enhance their knowledge of the profession. In fact, many internships provide a natural pathway to staying on long-term after the academic experience has been completed.
