Financial information and resources for international students
At Kent State University your success is just as important to us as it is to you. The University provides a variety of resources to ensure your personal success. Financial assistance is available to students at all levels of education.
Estimated Expenses
  • Undergraduate
Undergraduate students will need to document $26,522 of available financial support.

  • Graduate
Graduate students will need to document $23,155 of available financial support.
These U.S. dollar amounts are set by Kent State annually and are required by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). The totals above include money for tuition, housing, food, medical insurance and care, books and supplies, and miscellaneous expenses.
Financial Assistance
  • Undergraduate
Undergraduate students may be eligible for academic, athletic or creative scholarships. Visit the Office of Student Financial Aid for a complete list of available opportunities. You may also want to research funding opportunities through your own government or sponsoring organization.

    • International Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The International Undergraduate Scholarship program is available to any non immigrant to the United States who is an incoming undergraduate student to Kent State University. This merit-based scholarship may vary in amount awarded to the student. To apply complete the international undergraduate scholarship application provided below.

    • Work Partnership Fund
In 2002, the Work Partnership Fund was established to give international students a work experience within a department. This program allows the student to work within an area of interest for 10 hours a week while continuing their studies. If you have further interest in this program contact Ted McKown.

  • Graduate
Sources of financial assistance providing partial support for international graduate students include both service and non-service appointments. Students wishing to apply for any of these should contact either the chair or the graduate coordinator of their major department. The application for a graduate appointment is included as part of your application packet for admission to Kent State.
Financial Documentation
All international applicants to Kent State University must be able to document that they have the financial resources needed to support their educational and living expenses for at least one full year.HOW DO I DOCUMENT MY FINANCIAL SUPPORT?
Your financial support is usually verified by two documents:
  • A completed Financial Information Worksheet (provided with the application for admission).
  • A bank statement or a bank letter from the appropriate financial institution signed by an official. (Such a statement may also be in the form of an affidavit.)
