Graduate Application Process
At Kent State University we are happy to service your application. Once we receive your application and fee, the process begins with an evaluation of your foreign credentials and English proficiency. The file then moves to the department in which you applied for a final review. The department will make an admission decision on your application. Your paperwork is then sent to The International Student and Scholar Services office where immigration documents will be issued and express mailed to you.
Graduate Student Assistantships
Kent State University offers both graduate assistantships and teaching fellowships. In return for up to 20 hours of work, the student will receive a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. A teaching or research fellowship offers a full tuition waiver and monthly stipend and allows students to focus exclusively on teaching or research rather than departmental duties. The ONTAP program is for graduate assistants. This week long orientation gets students started in developing their teaching and communicating skills and has them make this a high priority. It is also intended to make graduate assistants comfortable at the University.
