Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA)

The CLA is a discipline-independent measure of an institution's contribution to the development of key higher order competencies, such as critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem solving, and effective communication.  Unlike most standardized exams, which typically are in multiple-choice format, the CLA taps into higher order skills by requiring students to demonstrate, through essays, their ability to reflect on problems and solve tasks.
