The impressions that have stayed with me the most from the graduate program at Kent State University are those rare moments when I received unexpected positive feedback from professors or peers on work that was so new and close to me that I couldn't see it. Those moments were vital in teaching me to work at the edge, to learn to see the magic and trust the outcomes of my experiments. This ultimately led me back to painting.
Receiving my MFA has opened up new opportunities for me including gallery representation, artist residencies, and teaching positions. I suppose it has changed my life in that I am wholly committed to my work as an artist and take the long view in how my artistic path has revealed itself to me.
