About the Program

EMBA for Healthcare Professionals

Most MBA programs consist of weekend or evening programs that admit students with varying degrees of work experience. Many of the admitted students to the program may have limited or no work experience. The Kent Healthcare MBA Program is structured to accommodate seasoned healthcare professionals who can bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom.

The Healthcare MBA admission requirements place a lower focus on previous academic achievements, with greater emphasis placed on business experience, professional growth, and personal maturity. In addition, a Healthcare MBA student is often fully or partially sponsored by their healthcare organization. This includes financial support as well as a commitment to accommodate their varying student needs during the course of the program.

Building on the notion that students can learn from one another as well as from faculty members, this program combines lecture, in-class discussion, cases, and research. Under a lockstep format, students start the program together and stay together throughout the program. As such, students continue to build on the strengths of their classmates throughout their course of study and enrich their total learning experience.

The Healthcare MBA curriculum consists primarily of required courses in the various business disciplines, without the electives or "concentrations" common to some traditional MBA programs. Healthcare topics have been included in every course, rather than added as separate courses making it a totally healthcare integrated program. An optional course at completion of the program is a trip abroad for an applied healthcare learning experience in different cultures as part of an International Business Experience (IBE).

The program is also accelerated through the use of on-line and weekend delivery so that the program may be completed in 21 months as the student continues to work full-time.

Participants who successfully meet the university academic standings for graduate studies during the Healthcare MBA program will be awarded the degree of Master of Business Administration. Students are required to have a 3.00 GPA for graduation.

The Kent State Healthcare MBA program is one of the highest quality MBA for Executive degree programs available for professionals seeking advancement in their careers.
