Sustainable SystemsThe Sustainable Systems option allows students to take advanced courses in sustainability, Life Cycle Design and Analysis, and sustainable energy. The program prepares students to be successful and to advance within various engineering- and technology-related careers in business, government, and industry.
The option presents the fundamental characteristics of sustainable systems, and the methods and tools used for incorporating sustainable methods, materials, practices, and processes into a variety of enterprises and environments.
This option is especially valuable for individuals currently working in business and industry positions who are looking to further their education and enhance their careers
Degree RequirementsMaster of Technology students specializing in Sustainable Systems are required to complete a minimum of 33 credit hours of course work as indicated below:
Core CoursesTwelve credit hours of Technology core courses are required.
Sustainable Systems Technology CoursesThe following courses should be taken:
- TECH 57000 - Sustainable Systems and Technology
- TECH 57200 - Systems Engineering
- TECH 57210 - Sustainable Energy I
- TECH 67220 - Life Cycle Design I
- TECH 67221 - Life Cycle Design II
- A cumulative graduate GPA of 3.00 is required for graduation.
- A minimum of 21 credit hours of coursework must be taken in TECH or AERN courses.
- A minimum of 18 credit hours in 60000-level or above coursework is required.
- A maximum of four credit hours of Workshop coursework may be used to satisfy the degree requirements.
- A maximum of nine credit hours in Technology Individual Investigation coursework may be used to satisfy the degree requirements.
- Six credits total for thesis (TECH 61199: Thesis I) will be counted if the thesis option is chosen.
