Scholarships for Students Majoring in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry and Physics
Applicants are advised to apply at the earliest deadline possible because only a limited number of scholarships are available.
The scholarships are student-centered awards from the State of Ohio, funded by the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program: Integrated Science Training for Northeast Ohio's Future Biomedical and Biotechnology Workforce. The scholarships offered through this Kent State University COFS Program are for students to use to attend Kent State University in order to pursue degrees in biotechnology and the biomedical sciences. To be eligible, students must major in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or Physics. The scholarship is targeted to those Ohio residents who are preparing for careers in the STEM fields other than clinical. The renewable scholarship is in the amount of $4,700.
Scholarship awards are available to Kent State University full-time students and can be made to incoming freshmen, transfer students or current KSU students. Choose Ohio First scholarship recipients must be Ohio residents. Incoming Kent Campus freshman students must submit a complete application for admission to the Kent Campus (test scores and high school transcript). Minimum GPA of 3.0. Students on KSU's regional campuses and students wishing to transition from two-year colleges to Kent State University are particularly encouraged to apply. Transfer students must have a minimum college cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students must submit a complete admissions application by the deadline given above for consideration for fall semester and need to enroll full-time. Scholarship awards contingent upon funding from the State of Ohio. Kent State University is a diverse educational community; students from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
